I Choose Me: The Ultimate Act of Self-Love
Every day we wake up we have to make a choice. Our days are spent choosing one thing or the other.
Have you ever had to choose between what you want and what your significant other wants?
Have you ever said yes when you really wanted to say no out of obligation?
Have you ever stayed in a dead-end or abusive relationship?
Have you ever wanted/needed to share your story but didn't because you didn't want to hurt anyone else?
If you have answered yes to any of the above or thought of a situation where you placed the wants and desires of others over yourself, I Choose Me is for you.
I Choose Me is a labor of love documenting how I emerged as a healed, whole woman after years of hurt, trauma, and bad choices. For years, I placed everyone else above me and dimmed my light for their benefit. I buried my feelings for so long that I forgot I was allowed to feel. I suffered in silence because I placed a higher priority on others' peace instead of mine. I willingly knew the choice I was making was going against who I was and still chose to throw a little more dirt into the grave I was burying myself in.
I Choose Me is for the superwoman who grew up believing you have to be strong when you are hurting. For the man who constantly finds himself meeting the same person and the relationship ending with the same negative results. Birthed from a place of pain, I had to find peace and purpose.
I Choose Me is for the person who is ready to:
Look in the mirror and realize you are bigger than your bad choices and mistakes.
Take a stand and say yes to being your greatest, authentic self.
Find triumph in the pain caused by traumatic experiences.
Live a life of peace doing what serves you and your greater purpose.
Be intentional with sharing your time, resources, and space.
I Choose Me is changing the narrative our culture has carried for generations. No longer will we feel bad for saying no when we don't want to do something. No longer will we feel less than for taking a moment to process our feelings. We are strong even when we are vulnerable. We are normalizing "choosing me and what best serves me, protects my peace, and brings me joy".
Self-preservation is not selfish.
